'My painting depicts the colourful and playful world of discovery of a child who grew up amidst nature in a village which as a whole gets transformed into a new reality. My early life was spent in a Banaras village and just like a small place in Banaras, my childhood flourished in regional folk tales. The simplicity of the culture of an ancient city full of religious myths and beliefs shaped the forms and lines of my paintings." - Santosh Verma
